Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Imagly works entirely client-side. Your images are decoded and re-encoded by web workers inside your browser, and the compressed results never leave your device.

Which image formats are supported?

Imagly supports all major image formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, SVG, BMP, ICO, and TIFF up to 50 MB each, in batches of up to 30 files.

What does the auto output format do?

The auto option keeps each image in its optimal compatible format. Choose JPEG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF explicitly when you want to convert files across formats.

What is smart compression?

Smart compression targets a file-size budget you set, for example 1 MB. The encoder iterates internally, gradually lowering quality until the image fits within the target size.

Can I resize images at the same time?

Yes. Pick a maximum edge length such as 2048 px and the longest side of every image is scaled down before compression, which makes results dramatically smaller.

Is Imagly free to use?

Yes, Imagly is free for any use with no account required. There are no watermarks, no usage limits, and no image is ever uploaded anywhere.

How many files can I compress at once?

Batches support up to 30 images with a 50 MB limit per file. Each file is processed in parallel with its own live progress bar, so the page stays responsive even with a full queue, and you can download everything bundled into a single ZIP.

Will compression reduce my image quality?

Compression is always a size-versus-fidelity tradeoff, and you control both ends. The quality slider runs from 10 to 100, with values around 80 usually looking visually identical while cutting size dramatically. Alternatively, use smart compression to target an exact file size, or cap the longest edge from 640 to 2560 px to shrink photos dramatically with minimal perceived loss.

Are my photos uploaded to a cloud server or third-party AI?

No. All segmentation algorithms run 100% locally on your device inside your web browser using HTML5 Canvas and WebAssembly. Your photos never touch any server.

Can I replace the background with Amazon or Shopify compliant pure white?

Yes! Select the 'Studio White' backdrop preset (#FFFFFF) or choose any custom brand HEX color to create compliant e-commerce catalog photos instantly.

What is Halo Suppression / Color Decontamination?

When removing backgrounds, contrasting edge colors (like a white or green halo) often cling to fine hair and silhouettes. Our decontamination algorithm mathematically subtracts the background color bleed from semi-transparent edge pixels.

Can I add realistic commercial drop shadows to products?

Yes! Toggle the 'Product Drop Shadow' control to composite a soft, grounded product elevation shadow under shoes, bottles, electronics, and apparel.

What output formats are supported?

You can export directly as transparent PNG, transparent WebP, or high-fidelity JPEG if a solid backdrop is selected.
